Insurance
If you have Regence (or most other Blue Cross/Blue Shield), Premera, or First Choice health insurance, we will bill directly for you. All others are to pay for services at the time they are provided. We will give you, upon request, the document to give your insurance company so you can get reimbursed.
Please Be Aware
My job is to help you get a better life with less struggle and suffering. Most of my clients have found a combination of medication management, skill building, and therapy gets those results.
However, for those who want me to do only medication management for them, please be aware of a conflict between what insurance pays and what the science suggests are the right things to do to avoid major problems. Study after study show that insufficient monitoring of medications is one of the biggest contributors to problems for those who do have problems. Sufficient monitoring includes both seeing the person frequently enough and having enough time during a session to be able to observe and ask the right questions. To prevent such avoidable problems, I end up doing a variant of skill-building and therapy in each session just to get the meds right. All return appointments are for 45 minutes, not the 10-15 minutes that insurance pays for when the billing code for "medication management" alone is sent to them.
Therefore, I legitimately bill for a combination of "medication management and psychotherapy" even if the primary objective is medication management.
Reduced Fee
For those who do not use insurance and who commit to at least two sessions per month for at least three months, we offer the opportunity to participate in the First Focus Coaching Program at $237 per month (a 40% reduced fee). To look at the First Focus Coaching Program agreement form, click here.
Payment
Cash, check and Visa/Mastercard accepted for payment. However, a valid credit card is required to register and schedule for all appointments for everyone. This credit card is used in only 3 situations:
1) If you ask us to use the credit card to pay what you owe, we will do it;
2) If you do not show for or do not cancel at least 24 hours before a scheduled appointment, a no-show/late-cancellation fee of $118.50 is charged to the credit card; or
3) If you haven't paid within the month of when you received the statement (or would've received the statement if we had your correct mailing address [yep, it's your responsibility to report change of address]) or you have not made a payment as you agreed, we may choose to use the credit card to recoup what is owed.
So as long as you keep your appointments, let us know if there is a conflict at least 24 hours before an appointment you can't keep and make payments as agreed, you're welcome to use cash or check to make payments.
Cancellation Policy
Agreements are important in this kind of work. If I don't show up or give you 24 hours advance notice of canceling an appointment (except in emergencies), I will give you the next session free. If you do not show up for your scheduled appointment or do not give us at least 24 hours advance notice of cancellation (except in emergencies), you will be charged $118.50 for the session.
